Program Delay Manager II (PDM II) refreshes an industry favorite, expanding and improving the classic PDM delay for the AoIP world of today. The extensive features and ease of use of the original PDM is carried forward and combined with redundant power and dual network ports in a silent, fanless design. Simply put, you won’t find a more feature rich content or ‘profanity’ delay than PDM II.
Unique to PDM II is its patented ‘PD-Alert’ system, a feature set that internally archives a time-stamped before/after audio file snapshot whenever the Dump button gets pressed. PD-Alert can be set to automatically email one or more station personnel, such as the Program Director, General Manager, or the legal department, whenever a dump event occurs.
PDM II’s extensive data delay features ensure that contact closures, PAD data, and IP traffic remain synchronized with audio content during delay, expansion, compression or when Dump is activated. Equally important is full bi-directional serial communication allowing PDM to be controlled by on-air systems with serial data over IP using a simple command language.
PDM II’s fanless chassis design offers relay bypass equipped analog and AES3 digital audio I/O on convenient RJ-45 ‘Studio Hub’ style connectors and concurrent Livewire+AES67 AoIP. A programmable 5×5 opto-isolated hardware GPI/O, with up to 20 IP-based GPI/O’s accessible over Livewire is supported.
The familiar, uncluttered front panel rests atop a powerful suite of features. PDM II users can build a delay by time expansion (audio plays slower than real-time) or audio file playout (one of the internally stored audio files plays while the talent’s audio buffers).
Exiting a delay can be accomplished through rollout (talent pauses and waits to resume talking after the buffer has emptied) or time compression (audio plays faster than real-time until the delay is reduced to 0). Seamless time expansion and compression algorithms keep air sounding natural, even on stereo music, and rates can be adjusted dynamically depending on audio content. 99 seconds of delay is standard.
PDM II’s simple, password-protected HTML5 GUI allows for easy updating, configuration, and control from any smartphone, tablet, or PC.
PDM II can be powered by either AC or PoE. Providing both power sources enables full power redundancy. Dual network interfaces allow you to put critical AoIP audio functions on a different network or subnet from admin or GUI / control features.
